How do I stop pickin nails?

When I get a jagged edge on my nails, I have 2 pick it and make it smooth. no matter where im. and I mind so badly. and if I did, ill b 2 capable of feeling and its all sticky to the surfaces of clothes and other things: (I'm supposed to carry around as slicers everywhere?

I would say it was a good idea until I saw someone say something about an emery board, but for a guy, that strange, right?
