i want to groom my 2 month old japanese spitz puppy, what comb will i buy?

What type of brushes & comb will i buy. Shampoos also. please give specific advise. thanks.

These types of dogs do not require bathing more than than three or four times per year Depending on the climate and the amount of outside time this dog may only need to be bathed twice a year. To do more will damage the oils in this dogs coat and will leave her unable to naturally shed dirt as I am sure you noticed she does.

I own these dogs and they have the natural ability to be self cleaning.

When you do use shampoo than you will want to use a good quality Pet shampoo that is pH balanced and make sure that you spend alot of time rinsing to get the shampoo out of the dense undercoat.

As for the brushing a slicker is OK but with the thickness of the coat I almost exclusively use a pin brush. If used every day at a time when your puppy is relaxed (such as the time it normally takes a nap or goes down for the night) she will get used to it and almost look forward to it. Doing this every day will reduce the matts that frequently form behind the ears. If you do notice the matts if they cannot be comfortably brushed free than cut them out quickly before they get too large as they can become painful.

You will experience a major coat “Blow” twice a year when the fur seems to come out in clumps. It is normal but you will need to keep your vacuum handy as you are in for a never ending coating of white fur during this time. After this “blow” is finished is the best time to bath her or go to a groomer you trust.

If you have a garden or place where birds are nesting this downy fine fur makes great nesting material and my yard is picked clean daily by the little birds that use it.
